WHO WE ARE

The idea of OrangeLeaders.com arose as three leaders started talking together and discovered that while their ministry methods were quite different, the why of what they were doing was exponentially more important than the way of what they were doing.

Reggie Joiner invested more than a decade designing innovative environments for children, students and marriages as the founding Executive Director for Family Ministry at North Point Community Church. A recent survey of new church starts showed that the vast majority of new churches are being formed with these innovative environments as the central strategy for reaching emerging communities.

Sue Miller joined with a few dozen others for a young people’s Bible study in a Chicago suburb more than twenty years ago. Within a few years, this in-home group became Willow Creek Community Church and captured the imagination of those willing to shatter stereotypes for the sake of reaching the unreached. As one of Willow Creek’s founders, Sue designed the groundbreaking Promiseland environment for Chicago’s children.

Lanny Donoho hosts nearly 20,000 high school students each summer at BigStuf camps in Florida. Never one to embrace the ways things have always been done, Lanny lives and ministers on the edge. Lanny remains one of the strongest thinkers in contemporary youth ministry, and he is active in his commitment to seeing ministry to students break beyond the bounds of proper religion and into the reality of everyday life.

Together, Reggie, Sue and Lanny combine their influence and experience to lead OrangeLeaders.com. In addition, the OrangeLeaders team includes a group of leaders formed in church ministry, publishing, music, education, creative production and more. (Read more about the individual team members here: www.orangeleaders.com/OLstaff.)

Mostly, though, “Who We Are” is YOU. OrangeLeaders.com is about you, the leaders who exercise the essence of Orange every single week in your environments and every single day in your influence among families, teens and children.

We’re honored to partner with you for that purpose.

The Orange Leaders Team

President and Creative Director of BigStuf Productions (Formerly Youth Ministry Resources). Lanny has been working with kids. producing events, and creating enviornments for ministry for what seems like 43 years, but probably more like since 1975.

He's the brain behind BigStuf Camps and has been the emcee/host guy for those events, as well as Atlanta Fest, DCLA, CHIC, Catalyst Conference, GrowUp, his kid's birthday parties and KidStuf at North Point Community Curch. He does some creative consulting for a bunch of Christian and secular organizations, and his mom is really proud of him. He wrote this bio himself, and wondered why he typed it all in third person. He also figures that all the stuff in this paragraph really doesn't mean a whole lot, but that his relationship with God does.

He and his talented and creative wife, Peggy, live in Alpharetta, Georgia, and are presently enjoying the challenge of raising their three sons: Landon, Andrew and Evan.

Lanny is the author of God's Blogs available from the reThink online store.

In addition to his role at ReThink, Mike leads the communications, marketing and global missions initiatives for an innovative church in the center of South Florida's fastest-growing residential, entertainment and business district. He holds a master's degree in ministry.

Mike’s passion is seeing church members mobilized for worldwide ministry. As a former high school and college teacher, he enjoys seeing students discovering their potential for impact in places all over the globe. To that end, Mike stays involved with orphanage and student ministries in Russia and medical and construction ministries in Nicaragua. He has led teams to those nations more than two dozen times each and is developing a third ministry in a closed country in Central Asia.

At OrangeLeaders.com, Mike guides content and communications as thousands of fellow staff members combine their hopes and strategies for the highest effectiveness in reaching emerging generations.

Reggie Joiner is the founder and Chief Creative Officer of The reThink Group (formerly known as FamilyWise), a non-profit organization providing resources to help parents and children rediscover family time. The reThink Group provides curriculum for preschool, children, families, and students over the internet to churches throughout the US and 8 other countries.

Reggie is also one of the founders of North Point Community Church in Alpharetta, Georgia.  In his role as Executive Director of Family Ministry, Reggie developed a new concept of relevant ministry for preschool, children, students and married adults over the course of his ten years with the church.   Additionally, during his time with North Point, Reggie created KidStuf, a weekly environment where kids bring their parents to learn about God, as well as Grow Up, an international conference to encourage and equip churches to create relevant, effective environments for children, families and teenagers.

Reggie is the coauthor of “The 7 Practices of Effective Ministries” along with Lane Jones and Andy Stanley.  He and his wife, Debbie, live in Cumming, Georgia, and have four grown children: Reggie Paul, Hannah, Sarah, and Rebekah.

Sue Miller is one of the newest members to join the ReThink Group.  She and her family moved to the Atlanta area after 16 years of leading the Promiseland ministry at Willow Creek Community Church in Barrington, Illinois.  Her responsibilities included leading and directing a ministry that involved 3,000 children and 1,000 volunteers.   Sue was instrumental in leading the change process that grew Promiseland into a cutting edge, contemporary children's ministry. The story of how all that happened is told in her book, "Making Your Children's Ministry the Best Hour of Every Kid's Week."

Sue’s passion to reach unchurched children and grow them into fully devoted followers of Christ is absolutely contagious.  She has travels extensively nationally and internationally motivating and inspiring church leaders and volunteers to raise the value of building effective ministries for kids.  She is involved in mentoring other leaders, and often serves as a consultant for churches who want to take their children's ministry to a new level.

Sue and her husband, Rick, live in Cumming, Georgia, and have two grown children: Holly and Ryan.

As one of the original actors in the KidStuf family production, Greg was a key voice in developing the concept of family experiences that communicate at different levels with children and their parents. Working directly with Reggie Joiner, Greg was also KidStuf’s first director and writer as he served on staff at North Point Community Church for eight years.

With expertise in script development and character backgrounds, Greg travels to churches around the nation (and around the world) to coach church leaders and family production casts. He continues to write many of the FamilyTimes sketches and Family Experience scripts. Many Orange aficionados know Greg best as the original voice of “Skeeples and Lomes,” an allegorical illustration of the potential of church and home working together.

For OrangeLeaders.com, Greg is an accessible resource for those seeking to strengthen their family experiences through character study, greater production values and custom scripting. He also reports case studies of churches that are effectively implementing the principles of Orange thinking in their own environments.

With experience at every level of creative production, Colette Taylor was the primary producer and designer of family environments for North Point Community Church. In that role, Colette was responsible for taking Reggie Joiner’s dreams and ideas and following them through to implementation, premiere and sustainable production. She continues in that same capacity for The reThink Group and most recently produced the inaugural Orange Conference for more than four thousand participants.

Adaptable and flexible, Colette has mastered the art of working with unpaid volunteers to help them achieve their greatest ministry potential. Sometimes equipped with little more than a sketch on a three-by-five notecard, Colette develops the framework and fabric for engaging, entertaining events.

She brings these skills to OrangeLeaders.com, contributing production ideas and developing systems for team and talent development.

As editor for Walk Thru the Bible’s YouthWalk devotional magazine, Tim Walker spoke into the lives of tens of thousands of students every day. Now Tim is leading the development team for the next step in reThink’s strategic process for families. This next step, called XP3, challenges students to take what they’ve learned through years of teaching and transform that teaching into practical, personal ministry experience. The triad of wonder, discovery and passion speaks of every student’s highest objectives of building an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ. In fact, Tim believes that’s something we adults need in our lives as well.

Tim is administratively adept and understands the importance of bringing together a ministry team for focused, intentional impact. He has been an award-winning editor, a board member for the Evangelical Press Association, a writer/editor for Lifeway Christian Resources, and coauthor of a groundbreaking book for teenagers, “Sex 180: The Next Revolution.”

For OrangeLeaders.com’s student workers, Tim is an available voice for advice and seasoned experience. He is also profiling student environments that model Orange efforts to transition young people from the classroom to the real world of personal ministry.

Tim is married to Jennifer Walker, cofounder of www.momsoncall.com and co-author of the infant care advice book The Moms on call Guide to Basic Baby Care. They have three children of their own.
