Small Talk is an "at home" resource for our preschool curriculum called First Look. You can see samples online at http://www.myfirstlook.org. This resource cannot be found on the store site since it is a part of the curriculum bundle.

For Heaven's Sake is a simple Family Experience that will clearly present the message of Jesus Christ to parents and their children. We have resources for parents to be able to follow up with their child at home to be a part of that very important decision making process.

If you have any difficulty finding "For Heaven's Sake" on the store site, please contact your Partner Development Director and they will be happy to help you!

Regarding the reinvention of Family Time, you may even want to consider creating a Facebook Fan Page for your children's ministry. You can leverage this tool to families (who are already using it most likely!) and lean in to them throughout the week with things that are going on in ministry or ways for them to connect with their children.

There is a fine line, however, with painting an unattainable picture for parents to strive for. If you put too many resources out to them, parents may not feel successful unless they do everything...and therefore will likely do nothing. Reggie Joiner's opening message from the Orange Conference last year really encouraged us all about how it's not a better picture that parents need, it's a bigger story. God wants to use their brokenness to demonstrate his story of redemption and restoration. So for some families, the smallest movement (for example a father who feels encouraged to begin to tuck his kids into bed and pray with them for the first time), will have significant impact in his family. It's more about encouraging them to try something....not everything....that will likely have the greatest impact for your families.

First, cast vision for what can happen at home. Fuel passion for their roles as parents, giving them reasons and practical ideas for the value of family time. Next, provide resources as tools and communicate the how and why of each resource (FamilyTimes Virtue Pack, God Time cards, Refrigerator Door cards, Small Talk, For Heaven’s Sake, HomeWork, etc. See the reThink Store for these resources.). You could package a month's worth of tools in a cool way (create a custom printed "toolbox" using a Happy Meal box, paper gift bag, folder, or plastic bag).

Another way to encourage the dialogue is to set up a section of your web site where parents can share ideas on what’s been helpful to them. If your church website doesn't have space or bandwidth for this, you can set up a blog web site through Wordpress, Blogger, Typepad, or any other source.
